Attitude is the most important aspect of Mindfulness. In fact, the practice of mindfulness assists us to cultivate an attitude of acceptance and non-judgement that then permeates through our whole life. You will notice that there is an inner commentator, and inner voice that is constantly judging, pointing out the should and should nots, constantly criticising of you and telling you how you can do it better. So when you sit down to do a mindfulness practice, this can be what greets you are the door. Shifting this voice to a kind loving grandparent or best friend has powerful effects. Chastising the self for having a wondering mind is like chastising the puppy for wondering off. Like you would gentle guide a puppy, you can gentle guide your mind back to the focus of the mindfulness. Practice speaking kindly and accepting your state of mind, whatever it is, busy, tired or irritated.
