What do I mean when I ask you, “Have you inventoried yourself lately?” In the book Consciousness Medicine: Indigenous Wisdom, Entheogens, and Expanded States of Consciousness for Healing and Growth by author Françoise Bourzat writes about the importance of using the Holistic Model for a Balanced Life: An Inventory in chapter 3, Illuminating the Path.
In this chapter, the author gives us questions, an inventory, to help us discover where we are with our body, our mind, our spirit, our community, and our environment. All of the questions are designed to help us explore how we are in relationship to each of these areas and to see if we are in balance or out of balance on any of these levels.
For instance, how do we fuel, care for, and treat our bodies? How do we think and what are our emotional states? How do we relate to our lives spiritually? How do we relate and work in community, and how do we address and work in our environment and nature? In preparing for any consciousness work, it is good to do an inventory of these areas. Do we need to heal, clean out, and clarify any of these? This is good not only for preparation for work with consciousness, but it is good for knowing yourself and living your life. So get the book and do the inventory and see where you are at.
As Marianne Williamson says, “The spiritual path is simply the journey of living our lives. Everyone is on a spiritual past; most people just don’t know it.”
