Are you open to new information pertaining to health and healing? Have you looked at the many alternatives available beyond conventional medicine for treatment of dis-ease and even injuries. The book, From Quantum Physics to Energy Healing – A Physicist’s Journey to Mind and Healing by Johanna Blomqvist PhD is a journey into hands-on healing treatments from the perspective of a scientist who became a big believer in hands-on energy healing, and her steps in learning and studying the methods and results of that alternative healing method.
The author writes about how we learn a particular way to view the world that we don’t change it lightly. We as humans tend to accept what we are taught, and even if it is proven that there is something better or that what we know is wrong, we still tend to stick to what we were taught. One example given is the doctor Ignaz Semmelweis who, in the 19th century, concluded that the students’ dirty hands spread illness to patients in the hospital. When hands started being washed, the death rate decreased. This is before the time when they knew about bacteria, but because his conclusions were lacking in scientific foundation, he was laughed out of scientific circles. Later in the century, bacteria was discovered and so was disinfection, and Dr Semmelweis gain due recognition, though after his death.
So now we look at hands-on energy healing and other alternative or complementary healing methods. These were not taken seriously, and even laughed at, though many ancient and indigenous peoples have used them for centuries, and many have been cured “with magic.” Now science is studying and finding these are not so “funny” after all. I like to think that the best has not been discovered and proven yet. We should keep learning and looking for the most successful and less invasive ways for health and healing. We should explore and question and learn to find the most effective methods for our unique self and situation.
