In reading the book Breaking The Habit Of Being Yourself – How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One by Dr. Joe Dispenza, the author touches on an important point about the human need to feel pleasure, but better yet, joy.  Joy is really what we yearn for as humans, yet we think outside influences give us that when really we are only experiencing pleasure.

Pleasure is what we feel when we experience something pleasing to our senses.  Joy is really much deeper, coming from inside of us and is a state of being.

When we experience something pleasurable to our senses, chemicals are released that stimulate our cells.  Our cells send messages back to the brain saying, “More Please.”  So, we want to experience more.  And when we are feeling bad about ourselves or feeling empty, we reach out to find something pleasurable to make us feel better.  So, we buy something, search for a fun experience, gamble, imbibe in substances, or find another way to find pleasure.  And we stimulate the cells again, and the cells say, “More Please.”

The problem that is created is that after a while the cells become more desensitized, so it takes more pleasure to make them happy.  So, we seek more, and after a while we become addicted to the pleasurable sensations, while deep inside we are still searching for joy and we still feel bad or empty inside.

The only way to really find the joy is to look inside yourself and address the feelings, some created as far back as childhood.  The joy is accepting yourself and loving yourself.  The book Breaking The Habit Of Being Yourself has helped me find the joy and it can help you too.

And don’t be fooled.  Advertisers understand this notion of lack and emptiness, and they want us to believe that they have the answers to take away the bad feelings and emptiness.  But they just really want us to buy something.  They present that you will feel better if you buy something. But after a while, the pleasure will wear off.

So if you really want to feel good, feel joy, please join us as we explore the book Breaking The Habit Of Being Yourself – How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One by Dr. Joe Dispenza in Quantum Leap Book Club on Law of Attraction Radio Network.
