As we wrap up the book “Biocentrism” by author Robert Lanza, MD with Bob Berman, the authors make the statement that “Consciousness poses the deepest problem for science.” Conscious experience is an intimate experience, an awareness or Ah-Ha moment, or a sense of expansion or being one with everything. There are so many ways to try to explain it, but many times there are no words that can share the experience, and for science there is nothing harder to explain.
The problem is that It Is An Experience. When we think or perceive something, there is a whirl of information processing that occurs and some physical can be studied by science, but there is also a subjective, internal, experience that poses the problem. In the realm of neural studies, neural information is discriminated, integrated, and reported in the brain and body, yet that doesn’t explain how it is experienced. And to top it off, two or more may be part of some event and all will experience the event differently.
Science can even try to explain behavior and relationships, yet it still has not found a way to explain the experience. There is a part of us as human beings, and even possibly others, that has a deeper way of connecting to a greater something.
Science is showing that as we observe, that which exists in a wave form of probability becomes the particle in existence. So does that mean as we, as life and consciousness, observe, we create the universe? And so, does that mean our consciousness, or a greater consciousness, creates as it observes?
Maybe the problem has been that science has been looking at only the physics of things and not the greater picture. It gives us more to look at, consciousness and life.
