As we begin this new chapter and continue our journey in this book of Matter into Feelings, I love how he starts this chapter first with a quote from Carl Saga

”  If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe”

Wow what a statement to start a chapter where he begins to take us on the journey of the Dream time. But think about it. In order to create we must begin to dream. He starts by saying the most profound experience as human beings is giving birth to our children. For those of us who had the privilege of having children we know it is truly an amazing experience there are no words to describe that feeling.

I can remember the day that I heard the cry of my son as they brought him into my room after giving birth. For me there was definitely this feeling of awe of creation and all that life is to realize that this child had been in my womb for nine months and developed into a little human being and here he was in my arms. There is no way to describe this feeling. The desire to create this being began with the dream of having a child and that is the wonder of life and creation.

But he take us much deeper than that. He says every living being feels this drive to create. Everything from your dog to a plant has the desire to create. Stop and think of this for a moment. If you haven’t had the opportunity to give birth think of how in your own life there is or has always been a desire to create. It can be from something small to something big, a project maybe. Just think of the process of giving birth to that project for example you go from the dream stage to the gestation or planning stage to the final fulfillment or giving birth to it. We are even giving birth to ideas and thoughts on a daily basis we just don’t think of it as such.  What  would happen if we did?  How would life be different for you if you thought of thoughts as this ? what would you do differently?  How would you act differently?

This statement that he says stood out very strongly for me to ponder on further.

The constant flux of on/off, life/death, beginning/ending, that impossible presence of unembodied  spirit pulsates in each of us as consciousness recognizing itself. In this creative sense we are all children of the vast mind-spirit that fills the universe and gave birth to it.  The evidence of this? We can think and speak.

I encourage you to really spend some time with this statement and see what thoughts, feelings , emerge that you can give birth to.\
